Langtang valley trek with Ganja La Pass has one of the most diverse cultural and natural trekking route in the whole of Nepal. The tradition and culture of the people living in this part highly resembles the Tibetan culture on the other side of the valley; the Tibetans migrated to this place long ago. Mt. Langtang Lirung(7,246m) dominates this valley because there are no mountains that are of more than 8,000m height. The trekking route is wonderfully suitable for those who wish to have a short trekking of 1 week or two weeks. The vegetation is diversified ranging from subtropics to the timberline. This place is also a natural habitat for the rare red panda.
Ganja la pass is a challenging pass, that is why maybe the pass is open for the visitors mainly during Autumn and Spring. The trekking trial takes us to wilderness that gives us such an adventurous experience we will never forget. So maybe all of us should look forward to such a daunting act if we are looking adventurous tourism

Today, we start our journey that we have been waiting for a long time. We take a bus on the way to Syabrubesi- enjoy our travel through all the way as we have Trisuli River giving accompany. We then head to Dhunche after resting sometime in Trishuli Bazar. From there we reach Syabrubesi in a few moments. We will have reached there by 3p.m. and completed a 7 hours’ journey on the first day.
Today, the trekking starts with the trial ascending upwards through a forest. We will have reached Bamboo village after nearly 3hours of walking. We then walk again through the bamboo forest to reach Lama Hotel. This is where we spend the rest of the day and night. On the way we can see bird lives all around and if luck is with is with us, we will also see some beehives and bears monkeys and red pandas too.
Continue our second day of trekking, we will walk through some dense forests of pine and rhododendron. After ascending forward, we leave the trees behind. On the way we also have to go through a valley. In this trial, the Langtang village is one of the most local and old villages. We can divide today’s trekking two parts too. One of three hours to reach Ghoda Tabala(Horse Stable) and the other one of also three hours to reach Langtang village.
A short walk of 3hours to Kyanjin Gompa today ensures that we also get acclimatized in the environment of Langtang valley. To reach the Gompa, we have to walk past yak pastures and also through many wooden bridges. Kyanjin Gompa is the last destination of the trial. At an altitude of 3817m, you get to see the most beautiful mountains of the region- Mt. Ganchempo and Mt. Langtang Lirung. Not only this but we can also enjoy the views of the glaciers, icefalls and birds too. We then explore the places around going to yak cheese factory and Kyanjin Gompa itself.
Today, we explore around of Kyanjin Gompa and also allow our body to acclimatize in the environment of Langtang. However, we will not stay idle. We will visit Tserko Ri for the enjoyment of beautiful views of the surrounding mountains that the place gives. Also from there, we are able to get a clear view of langtang Lirung, Langtang range, Kinshung, Yansa Tsenji and the foot of the huge lirung Glacier. The cheese factory and Buddhist monastery are also worth visiting.
Today, we firstly cross the Lagtag Khola. We then ascend through the rhododendron and juniper forest to eventually reach Ngegang, which is a yak pasture. We have a view of yaks grazing here and there almost at any time in the pasture.. We stay overnight in camps this time.
Today we reach the destination of our trekking i.e. Ganja La pass and at the same time cross it. We ascend steep ridges to a glacier valley. From there, we still have a make a 200m difficult long walk to reach the Ganja La Pass. But it’s worth it. From up the summit we can have a spectacular view Langtang Himalayan range and Tibetan Himalayan range. From the pass the trail descends steeply and enters the Yangri Khola Valley. Following the stream through grassy meadows, the trail reaches Keldang.
From Keldang, the way to Dhukpa Kharka is mostly descending, but there are ups and downs all over the trial. After we reach a valley, we follow the ridges, cross small settlements too, to reach Dhukpu Kharka. However, as there are no water supplies in this particular route, we have to carry as much water as needed. Today the trekking is of 5-6 hours.
First the trial ascends a little, but for the rest of the trial, it descends. It is also remarkable to notice that we lose nearly 1500m of altitude in this day. As all the other trials, this also offers the magnificent views of the mountain rages always passing through the forest of either pine or rhododendron.
We head to Sermathang after crossing a small forest. We pass through Parachin and Gangyul. Then we reach Sermathang which is a Sherpa village. Here you can enjoy the traditional Sherpa celebrations if you are in the right time. We can also have the outstanding views of mountains like Ganesh, Langtang, Rolwaling, Gosainkunda and Everest.
Fom Sermathang a short walk takes us to Melamchi Puul Bazaar. From there, we head to Kathmandu through a bus drive. The distance between Melamchi and Kathmandu is nearly 60km, which means a bus ride of 2 hours should take us to Kathmandu.
Today we have to say goodbye to each other. After such joyous moments, you have to get to your own country. So a representative from Noble Trek will take you to Tribhuwan International Airport. If you ever plan on coming back to Nepal again, we are always there to help.
